Human rights are basic principles that must be respected by people from all walks of life. Human rights are not restricted to the location one is or the country in which they are living. It is the basic responsibility of every human being to respect the rights of fellow human beings unconditionally.

Governments all over the world through the United Nations Charter are required to ensure that no one is discriminated against. Human rights are universal and deserve to be accorded to every human being. Human rights do not depend on whether one is a citizen of which country. Even immigrants deserve to be protected by the law against violation of their rights. Although this has been a matter of contention between various government and human rights movements, the matter has been addressed thoroughly especially in the United States where the issues of immigration evoke varied opinions from various sectors.

The government in the last few years has been coming up with measures which are intended to address the issue of immigration into the United States, but the solutions being applied for do not necessarily help the situation.

With the trump’s administration, it has become clear that the administration has little regard for the human rights as far as immigrants are concerned. The government has been trying to execute policies that go against the basic human rights granted to every human being. Trump’s administration has been recommending deportation of undocumented people living in the United States. The act of deportation although catered for by the law does not augur well with the rights of the people. Deportation means that a person is deprived of his basic right of movement as well as living in a place of his or her convenience.

Efforts to effect the deportation of hundreds of undocumented people living in the United States have been facing opposition from human rights defenders such in the form of human right, civil rights, and migrants’ rights groups.

These are organizations which have embraced the task of ensuring that no single person in the country is discriminated upon just for the simple reason that he or she is not a citizen of the United States. Any steps taken to deport a fellow from the United States should be done according to the law, which protects the rights of every human being. Some of the rights groups in the United States include:

The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund

The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is an organization that was started by two journalists by the names of Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. Michael and Jim are the owners of two media outlets in Arizona; Phoenix News-Times and Village Voice Media.

This organization deals with activities of financing migrants and human rights groups in the state of Arizona. The money that they used to start this organization was from a settlement they were awarded by the state for violation of their human rights. The state ordered that they are compensated $3.75 million.

After they were financed, they decided to use the money to fund the operations of the rights groups that operate in Arizona.

The educational landscape of the U.S. has been seriously affected by a period of stagnation in the eyes of many of us involved in the educational reform movement. The appointment of a new Secretary of Education is always a time when those of us who feel the political elite are not doing what is best for the students of the U.S. come together in our hope the newly appointed individual will look to make major changes to the way the public school system is operated in the future; for myself, the appointment of Betsy DeVos as the Secretary for Education has given me a reason to be optimistic the majority in the U.S. will soon have the freedom of choice now seen in many states throughout the Union.

The name Betsy DeVos is one I have been aware of for many years as I have taken a greater interest in the way the educational system is operated in the U.S. with the majority of my knowledge of the education reformer based on the fact Secretary DeVos has a family history of educators running through her family. What impressed me most about the appointment of Mrs. DeVos is the fact her own mother was an educator in the Michigan public school system and encouraged the young Betsy to become an advocate for at-risk students within the Michigan school system. In my opinion, this experience dating back to the youth of Betsy DeVos marks her out as one of the most experienced individuals involved in the education reform system in the U.S., particularly as she has been one of the leading lights in the reform movement since it was seen as a controversial subject for many.

As the former head of The Windquest Group used by herself and her husband, billionaire Dick DeVos to make investments and run their own charitable foundations, I believe Betsy DeVos can make a positive impact on the way the public school system is operated in the U.S. The history of the education reform movement dates back more than half a century with few of those involved in the movement when it was seen as a positive form of activism achieving as much as Betsy DeVos. One of the most startling aspects of the work completed by Betsy DeVos is her impact on the political landscape in a number of different states where I was pleased to see she managed to cross party lines and inspire the majority to find success in new educational policies of school choice and voucher systems for all to enjoy.

How Betsy DeVos has transformed Lives of People across the United States.

It is the right for each person to lead a comfortable and peaceful life with no fear of being pushed away or sidelined due to various factors such as race or gender. However, as much as many people understand the laws stipulated to protect each individual, there exists a small group of people who don’t want to acknowledge other people. With such a conflict of interest, commotions have arisen, and people have been subjected to hate and discrimination. Since such incidences have been on the rise since the early 19th century, lobbying groups that tend to talk on behalf of the discriminated people have been formed.

This article is going to take a look at two groups that have been on the forefront in fighting for the equal rights of refugees, immigrants and supporting civil rights.

National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (NNIRR)

The National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights was founded in the year 1986 with the sole purpose being to defend and expand on the rights of refugees and immigrants regardless of where they came from or their immigration status. Read more: Jim Larkin | Crunchbase

For over three decades now, the organization has drawn attention and membership from a diverse group of immigrant communities as well as actively built successful alliances with various global movements that support social and economic justice.

The National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights bases its policies on four pillars namely Immigrant Justice & Rights, Immigration Policy Returns, International Migrant Rights & Global Justice, and the Seeking Border Justice. Each pillar is subjected to deal with different issues affecting immigrants and refugees.

For instance, the Immigrant Justice & Rights policy has been set aside to address the plights that refugees face in their own countries or foreign ones. On the other hand, the Seeking Border Justice policy primary role is to address the issues that affect refugees when they try to enter another country without the required documents.

Since immigration and the influx of refugees in different countries tend to affect everybody, NNIRR encourages the ordinary citizen to get involved and offer a helping hand via funding and signing of petitions. For instance; the organization currently has an active petition which if successful will address the detention of asylum seekers and families who are entering the USA.

Once the required signatures have been attained, the lobby group will submit the petition to the mandated government bodies. The main aim of this petition is to address the harassment subjected to asylum seekers by the Trump administration.

Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund

The Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund is an organization that fights for the civil and human rights. As the name suggests, the organization was formed by two journalists namely Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey after they got paid more than $3.75 million in a court settlement after their illegal arrest and detention by the Maricopa County Sherriff Joe Arpaio.

The primary purpose of the fund is to support different groups that advocate for the rights of immigrants, human, and civil society groups.
