Squaw Valley Resort Gets Boost from Wirth

Squaw Valley, a location in Lake Tahoe, California, is known worldwide for its great skiing. Due to this prime locale’s ability to produce an abundance of snow each year, Squaw Valley provides a longer ski and snowboard season than many other resorts. With 6,000 acres open to skiing visitors, Squaw Valley welcomes beginners and competitive skiers alike. Trails, trams, mountains, and views work together to bring a complete, picturesque setting for some kick butt casual fun or serious slope action.

Riding, swimming, skating, snacking, sight-seeing, and snoozing are all yours for the taking when you travel to Squaw Valley. From pizza to beer, sophisticated dining to sommeliers, all of your senses can be engaged both on and off the snow. Just as the Squaw Valley Resort and it’s many complementary offerings provide for various levels of spending, a variety of options exist for engagement by those of both young and old ages as well.

Andy Wirth is the President and CEO of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings, which is the parent company of Squaw Valley and its sister ski resort, Alpine Meadows.  He began his appointed positions in August of 2010, and led the company to 70 million dollars’ worth of upgrades to improve the property’s components for a boost to visitor satisfaction. In 2013, Wirth, who appears to enjoy the thrill of more than skiing, lost his right arm in a skydiving accident, but the arm was reattached through the modern miracle of surgery, and the tragedy did not stop him from persevering. In 2014, he was named as the Citizen of the Year by Disabled Sports USA. He has also received many awards for both professional reasons and community service.

On a personal note, Wirth has three children from a previous marriage and is currently married to his wife, Karen, a real estate lawyer.
