I first became aware of Betsy DeVos through her work as an activist for the education reform movement who have been traveling across the U.S. seeking to establish a range of new programs in different areas of school choice, vouchers and charter schools. The charter school campaigns have been a major part of the work of Betsy DeVos who has not only fought to establish and maintain the Detroit Charter School system, but also established the West Michigan Aviation Academy that provides a simple and effective way of educating young people from a range of backgrounds about the aviation industry; a secondary advantage of this form of school is the fact the local area of Grand Rapids will become a hub for the aviation industry in the region.

One of the greatest aspects of the work Mrs. DeVos that I feel is important has been completing in recent years is her attempt to develop a greater understanding of the school voucher systems she has championed for a number of decades. One of the main areas the newly installed Secretary of Education for the U.S. has hoped to change attitudes is in the way the public school system is operated, including a dedication to children instead of the unions that have a major say in how the youth of the U.S. are educated.

In the Grand Rapids area of Michigan, Betsy DeVos is well known for her dedication to the local community in many different forms. Alongside her husband Dick, the Calvin College educated daughter of industrialist Edward Prince has impressed me by playing a major role in making sure the local community across the state of Michigan have access to arts and education based opportunities to better every aspect of the state. Betsy DeVos served on the board of the Kennedy Center for the Arts under then President George W. Bush and used her role to make sure Michigan was given an arts based program that includes the ArtsPrize voted on by members of the public.

Alongside her work in education and as a philanthropist, which has seen she and her husband provide more than $11 million in support to different charitable groups in 2015 alone, Mrs. DeVos has also looked to develop her business career as an investor with The Windquest Group. I believe the interests of Betsy DeVos show her progressive approach to all aspects of life as she has not only looked to create a number of business opportunities in Michigan, but also found ways of backing new technologies such as boxed water supplies and green energy technologies. George Soros Shares His Thoughts On Donald Trump And The Future Of Democracy

The world’s political atmosphere is tumultuous, at its best, right now. First came the United Kingdom’s unprecedented decision to exit the European Union. Then Donald Trump was elected to serve as the 45th president of the United States of America.

Brexit on Politico caused stock and currency markets all over the world to plummet, the pound to drop to its lowest value in more than 30 years, and American corporations to consider leaving London. Meanwhile, in the United States, Donald Trump was making a mockery of the electoral process, encouraging misplaced hate, and relying on fear mongering to further divide a nation.

In a recent essay, George Soros shared his fears for the future of democracy and the European Union. The 86-year-old Holocaust survivor was quick to point out the fact that one world leader, Vladimir Putin, played an active role in influencing both the U.S. election and the Brexit vote on Forbes. Russian President Putin is a direct threat to the open societies that George Soros has spent his life trying to protect.

The United States is resilient and democracy will prevail in the end. Unfortunately, while the world’s leading democracy is distracted by President Trump’s unqualified cabinet on opensocietyfoundations.org, unconstitutional policies, and social media outbursts open societies in the rest of the world will suffer. The fate of the European Union is weighing heavily on George Soros’s mind. If President Putin continues to gain momentum in Europe, he’ll achieve dominance over the continent, and the damage will be irrevocable.

In another recent essay, George Soros called Donald Trump a con man that will fail. Soros shares a popular theory that Trump never intended to win the election, he simply wanted to prove his prowess as a business man, and to further his brand. President Trump is now expected to influence business regulations to favor his personal business interests. Soros considers Trump to be a volatile, unpredictable would-be dictator.

George Soros is a Hungarian-born hedge fund manager who has donated more than $12 billion to charities around the world. Witnessing the horrors brought on by the Nazi regime first hand has clearly shaped the philanthropist that Soros became. He focuses his generosity on organizations that support social justice, freedom of expression, and open governments.

In 1993 George Soros founded the Open Society Foundation. The foundation has since spent nearly $3 billion defending the rights of women, minorities, and members of the LGBT community. The open Society Foundation has also spent billions of dollars on education, criminal justice reform, developing democracy in Europe and the former Soviet Union, immigration, public health issues, and equal rights.
